Sings the Beatles BBC2 11:05pm 15/01/2010

For the love of God do not watch this if you are in anyway a Beatles fan.

It was torture. Very few covers of any quality, most were made up of old BBC Light Entertainment specials where it probably wasn't even a good idea at the time, let alone with 40 years of hindsight.

So more a case of "Polyfilla from the archives for the Christmas schedule" rather than a "40th anniversary celebration"?

Thanks for the warning.

A whole house made out of polyfilla wouldn't be as flimsy as this piece of programming. Actually, it's probably worth watching just for how bad some of the covers are or for what passed for entertainment all those years ago. Mind if you make it past the first 2 or 3, you'll be doing good.

If you want a good cover album of Beatles songs, suggest you try the soundtrack to "I am Sam".

Weird how they can apparently get it so wrong. There have been plenty of good Beatles covers throughout the years to choose from if only they had bothered looking.

I suppose they felt that not enough people had experienced Ken Dodd doing "yesterday" and so it was was worthy of artistic merit.

There were one or two on there that were good, but you had to go through so much chaff to get there it was unbearable.
