Singletons Groups / Societies?

Anyone know of where / how a woman in her mid 50's would go about meeting other singletons. Doesn't want to do down the online dating route, she's an avid golf player apart from that doesn't really have any other hobbies, does anyone know if there's such a thing as single golf outings?

Would she be interested in playing Bridge? I was recently talking to a neighbor in similar age group and she said how much she enjoyed it. It's not necessarily for single people but they have lots of social events and there would be people from all walks of life there.
