Single billing

Yes, Smart is offering single billing and now's my chance to give the two fingers to eircom.

The difference is that (eg) Smart can charge you the same price as eircom for the line rental or they have the option to offer you a reduced price, because they are getting the line at a wholesale price.

I think that line rental prices will come down as more and more people are considering just abandoing the home phone and using the moby all the time. But that does impact on dial-up or DSL Internet users, unless you use a wireless broadband service provider.

Depending on what part of the country you're in, you could also consider cable for Internet access. And with I'm looking forward to ditching the phone line altogether. If nothing else, it'll put the heeby-jeebies up Eircom.
