Is there a simple guide to Paye/Prsi in Ireland?

A friend has recently started working in Ireland and will be paying tax here.

My attempts to explain how the system works here has resulted in her becoming more confused as her frame of reference is the UK system.

Any help would be appreciated.

If that's too arcane then try one of the usualy popular Irish personal finance books that are updated after each budget. Alternatively try . [broken link removed] might be useful for example. I found difficult to download the KPMG pdf from the link you provided using Mozilla. I managed using this link [broken link removed]
and subsequently downloading the link.

For some reason right clicking on the KPMG link and choosing Save Link As... in FireFox (1.0.7) fails but clicking on the link to open the PDF in the browser and then saving it from the Acrobat plugin works fine! Strange...
