Sicily, advice on holidays

Does anyone have any tips on good seaside towns to stay on the Eastern coast of Sicily? Flying into Catania, so thinking of staying in Syracuse? Would Taormina be better or worse in terms of price and things to see? We're more interested in seeing the real Sicily as opposed to crazy night life. Many thanks in advance.

We have stayed at two of the chain, firstly on Ischia and this year on Sardinia, and will certainly be using them again.
