Bought a house less than a year ago and shower is not working properly as we live in a hard water area and the lime in the water seems to have damaged the shower. Been onto the builders and although they know there is a problem and have replaced other people's showers in the estate they say there is nothing they can do for us. They did send a plumber and all he did was changed the settings but means you cant adjust the temperature when u want. It will have to be replaced I would say in the next few weeks or months even though we only moved in 8 months ago and is a good brand of shower.
Just want to know if they responsible for this or is it just tough luck??

Thanks

Re: Shower issue..

If it is a new shower I do not think the hard water will affect it that quick. Check how long the neighbours shower lasted.
There are companies around that specialise in shower repair. In the Cork area try: TW Pearse 021 4364994.
Get a company to fix it and take the builder to the small claims court.

Re: Shower issue..

As stated by roker, check with your neighbours about their shower problems. If yr water is very hard, you might consider getting a water softener - this will prolong the life of your kettle, washer and dishwasher too. If the shower is replaced the same thing is going to happen again anyway and to be fair you can't expect the builder to keep replacing shower units forever, (although I agree 8 months for a fully operational shower isn't very long)

Perhaps the builder is cheesed off with the all shower problems and your complaint just came at the wrong time - I'd try approaching him again.
