I am building a home office for my company. I am buying some equipment from the UK. The company I am buying from can ship without UK VAT being applied. Is it better to pay UK VAT? Does this invite attention from Tax man? What amount would get his attention?
If your company has an Irish VAT number, you can get the goods from the UK (or anywhere within the EU) without VAT being charged. You'll need to supply the VAT number to the UK supplier so that thay can quote it on the invoice they issue you (an EU regulation for 0% VAT transactions).
