Hi all, I stated in the Public sector in Jan 2008 on a 1 year contract, this was extended in Jan this year, my contract is up Dec 2010.
I am paying the pesion levy 60 euro a week , and I am wondering should I not be exsempt as I do not have a job for life, its unfair tax on everyone especially those who have over 30 years left in the public sector, love y=to hear your thoughts, many thanks

Dreamweaver,
If you have less than 2 years service, you would be refunded your normal pension contributions and the amount of pension levy you paid less 20% to the Revenue Commissioners. However from the information supplied, you will have 2 years service at the end of your present contract, therefore contributions will not be refunded. Your pension entitlements based on two years service, will be preserved until you reach minimum retirement age, at which stage you will receive same.
Evening
