Hi,

I am looking for some advice/sense/info? I have just got my loan offer from the bank. I have been offered 175000 over 25 years. I also have over 25000 deposit. Plus enough for solicitors fees, furniture etc. I am hoping to stay in the lucan area as my son goes to school there and family and friends are close by. Houses seem out of my reach!!! still!! Affordable housing is very small. I looked at three bed duplexes in adamstown for 200,000, seem very dear considering the management fees are 1200 a month. Anything eles is two bed apartments which are not as big. I would really like to stay in this area, I really want to buy now after not being able to afford anything nice during boom times. Advice????

I would keep saving and buy only when you find something you like for what you can afford.
It sounds like you will be buying for the sake of it.

Thanks for your reply.

Everything I like would never fall into what I can afford!!!! I do like the duplex in Adamstown however just wondering if it is still a total rip off?

Dont rush into buying, there will never be another property boom in Ireland in our lifetime. Keep savings, rent in the meantime. If I was you I would wait.

Should you buy with prices still dropping, interest rates rising and additional charges in the offing save your money and rent its the future.
I say this not because I am a landlord
