I am flying Ryanair tomorrow thanks to free flights I have availed of but downside is a 6 hour stopover at Stansted before I make my connection. I have never been to this airport before so can anyone tell me are there any decent shops there and if so what type of shops or is there a nearby town that I could pass the time away at.
Thanks
Be careful about leaving the Airport. You may find your 6 hours has shrunk to 3-4 hours by the time you've got your bags and travelled on the little shuttle bus back to departures. There are a few shops and a few bars restaurants. Have a leisurely meal, and buy a good book/magazine and you'll be airborne before you know it.
Last time I was in Stansted was a few years ago but it was as dull as ditchwater. If you had a 4 hours or more and didn't mind the extra expense you could scoot to London for a bit. Bring your laptop or a good book and get mashed in the bar I say.
They are computers available as well if you want to surf the time away. They charge 50p for about 15 mins if I remember correctly. I believe there is also a hotel very close to the airport that might be worth checking out for a meal to pass the time. Personally, I would'nt go in to London either. At best the Stanstead Express is a 45 min ride but I have been on it when it took twice as long due to hold ups for various reasons.
