My dvd player can upscale - the hdmi cable will make a difference.
Its NTL digital - do you think running the ntl through the dvd player to the tv (connected with the hdmi) will improve the picture?
mrc - I got the tv in DID for €1799. They sell it for €1899. I basically went to Powercity (who sell it for €1799) and got a written quote - and asked DID to match it. Had the tv in stock so just brought it home - no hassles.
The HDMI cable will make a difference to the DVD signal.
You cannot run the NTL cable box through the dvd palyer. IT will not up convert. Only DVD Discs will look better.
Make sure the NTL box is outputting RGB. This is in the settings of the digi box.
Unfortunatelly, in my opinion all LCD screens even a better brand like Sony or Sharp produce a very poor picture from analogue sources (Sky, NTL) Usually in the shop they have a HD feed.
The only flat screens which look great with all sources are Panasonic or Pioneer plasma screens. Otherwise stick with CRT.
Analogue is a lot lower resolution than HD TV's. So the picture will depend on how good the TV is at upscaling the analogue to your TV screen. Some TV's are good and some are bad at doing this.
Ended up going nuts in Harveys yesterday.. them tellin me that Sharp cant get the tv into Ireland at the moment and I just said gimme a refund, just bought 1 in D.I.D. (2 door down)
and the cheek of them to start asking me how DID have them and they dont (eh issue with your supplier, me thinks)
Watched Blood Diamond on new HDMI dvd player last night.
