Setting up my will and trust

I know it's important to have a will and trust to protect my family if anything were to happen. What steps do I need to take in doing this? I am assuming someone who does California wills and trusts would be able to help me out, but I wanted to see if anyone had some experience with this before I go out and find a lawyer.

I found some websites that have some information on this like California Probate Center and Preovolos & Associates a Law Corporation, but I'm still not sure what to do. Any information would be greatly appreciated!gl
