Setting up as a freelance bookkeeper

Hi all,

I'm looking at setting up at website advertising bookkeeping services. I have years of experience and am looking to formalise it as a business. I'd imagine the easiest way is to set up as a sole trader. Do I need to register with the CRO or Revenue then ? I'd imagine it will start very small and hopefully build up a solid business over time.

Any advice appreciated .. thanks in advance.

You would need to register as a sole trader with Revenue on form TR1. If you want to use a trading name other than your own name, you will have to register it with the CRO and also put this on your TR1 form.

Start by focusing on a specific business sector if possible.e.g.pubs or convenience stores.
