Separation, mortgage and the bank. How accomodating are the banks nowadays?

Hi, quick question about separation.

My husband and I have decided to separate.

He's moving out, renting nearby.

House will probably have to be sold etc so as wondering is there any special arrangements the banks will allow you, if you went to them and said, due to separation, we want to put mortgage on hold for 6 months, then make a final decision. This would give us 6 months financial independence.

What are they like in these situations?

Thanx,

Hi Laura,

Ive expanded your title, added paragraphs, removed text speak and moved the post to Mortgages!

I suggest that you retain some independent professional financial and legal advice on your own account.

Im not sure how understanding the banks are at present but suggest that you let them know your circumstances asap.

what is approx value of house versus amount remaining? If the mortgage is higher than the value of the house then bank may be slow to agree. However if the sale results in full mortgage plu interest being cleared in six months then they should be more agreeable to your request.. But suggest you talk to them asap
