Sending a check-in bag from Heathrow to Ireland

Is there any way I can ship / courier my check-in bag from London Heathrow airport to Ireland?

I would think that it would be far more expensive than checking it in, though I have no direct experience of this. I did check DHL for a 3kg parcel from England to Jersey the other day and they wanted £55!!
 
Thanks Bill, unfortunately it is excess baggage (~ 20 kg) on top of check-in bag and Aerlingus or BMI would charge 10-15 Euros per kg. So courier might be cheaper but unsure..?
 
Not much help to you, but I do recall this service being discussed in the travel supplement of the Itish times some time ago.

The bottom line was that depending on the weight of the luggage, it could work out marginally cheaper (and certainly less hassle) to have it couriered directly to your hotel rather than lugging it about airports.
