Hope someone can advise

I am going for my 1st interview in 14 years!! AGH....

I have been told its semi structered. And to allow about 2 hours.

Does this sound like a normal interview?? How long is a normal job interview. Thanks

Seems long to me. If they have a structure, ask for a copy of the agenda beforehand. How many people will be interviewing you?

Seems long compared to what I've experienced, but I've recently just had this conversation with some friends (final year students seeking graduate positions) in the middle of doing multiple interviews and was surprised to hear them mention a few interviews of two hours or over (seemed more to be the rule than the exception).

Was surprised as one of those was with a company I interviewed with just over two years ago and interview only lasted ~45 minutes (with a job offer to follow so not a case of lack of interest).

During the conversation the idea seems to be the company allowing more time at the end of the interview process to give the company "sell". This could be as a result of the current job climate (more jobs than people to fill them) with most of those I was chatting with already having multiple offers.

Find out how many rounds of interviews there will be after this first one. 2 hours for everything wouldn't be bad. But 2 hours for 1st round woudl sound a bit excessive.

Some companies are awful time-wasters when it comes to this, and you have to be very careful re how you manage your time. There is a certain company in West Dublin who shall remain nameless who insisted on the following process last year for an exec job:

1st round: telephone interview (1 hour)
2nd round: half-day (really works out at full-day) assessment centre
3rd round: final interview (1-2 hours)

It would be normal for someone to be interviewed for 2 hours for a job where I work. This would be3 different interviews of 30 minutes - 1 HR, one management, 1 technical, plus time at the end for questions and the compnay sell. Add in time for breaks and coffee, and there is your two hours.

A leading internet browser company (that will remain nameless!!) are know to have 10-15 rounds of interviews for candidates, including telephone interviews, presentations, on site interviews etc.

Well I went for the interview, Took 45 minutes......phew.....
Flew through all the answers was well prepared even the HR manager commented that was quick, Have another interview in about 10 days and have been told it should be just a formality,
So thanks for all your help.
