Selling sterling cash - best option?

Hi
I recently received a gift of £2000 sterling in cash. I have a credit union & bank account in the Republic of Ireland & was wondering the best way to get this cash into my bank account? I don't want to pay lots of commission fees & also want to get the best rate.
I was thinking of the post office/bank/credit union &I'll contact them tomorrow when they're open.
Just wanted to see if anyone here had any better ideas.

Where have you got the money at the moment? If it's in a UK bank account, you can open an account with online money exchange companies such as currencyfair, they charge around €3 to do an exchange. https://www.currencyfair.com/

Sorry I should have said! I currently have it in cash. I can get access to a UK bank account so currency fair is definitely an option. Thanks for your help
