Selling Property Auctioneer v Private Sale

I have inherited a small parcel of land, and wnat to know what the advantages and disadvantages of selling by auction versus sale by private treaty.

No harm in getting a few valuations done as most are free. This will give you an idea of price and then try selling yourself on Daft.ie. If you are bright enough you could get alot of information from all the auctioneers that come to do valuation.

Unfortunately, I work full time and do not live near the property, so do not want to sell it myself - would not be able to arrange viewings etc. Don't mind paying for a service of selling in this case.

Just want to know what difference is between auctioning and private sale.
