Hi We have just agreed a sale price on our house in a private transaction- we have given the buyers our solr.'s details, and have compiled a list of house contents-what are the next steps? Any info would be appreciated as we are new at this sort of thing..

Your solicitors should be able to deal with things from here on in. First contracts will be drawn up and signed by your purchaser and deposit paid..after that it is fairly straightforward unless you need to look for retention orders for extensions etc..I also sold a property privately recently..only drawback was that as we had each others contact details I was plagued by calls on this and that which you don't get through an estate agent but I saved myself a lot of money in fees so it was worth it! Once you have agreed terms the sale proceeds as any other sale.

make sure you/your solicitor get a booking deposit to ensure they are some way serious.. after that the solicitor should be able to do the rest
