Need some advice.

Had advertised something for sale and received the following e-mail. I've guessed he's trying to scam me but is there any harm getting him to send me the cheque and try and lodge it? Anyone ever heard of this scam before

to buy it and as for the price am okay with it and i want to let you know that i will offer your selling price which is €150 for you to keep it for me,so for the payment it will be by cheque drawn in US bank only, cause i have business partner in SA that is going to send me €1,150
and willing to pay me by certified cashier cheque drawn from europe banks, so i will have to instruct him to send the cheque to you on my behalf and you get the cheque deposited and when thecheque clear you will help me to send the rest balance of €1000 to my shipper e in europe through money transfer agent,i will also arrange for the shippment because of a far distance delivery. You have to send the followings, i norder to receive the cheque.

It smacks of the classic rip-off with foreign (non-Irish bank) cheques / drafts. Personally I wouldn't touch it with a 40ft (metre) pole. You may discover having remitted the "change" from the transaction that the "certified cheque" / "bank-draft" / "cashiers cheque" is stolen or bogus.
