I'm about to sell my first car to trade up and I was thinking of doing it privately. I'm looking for advice as I've never done this before.

Is there any procedures I need to follow?
What's the best way to accept payment?
What documentation should I have that I can pass on?

Also, should I be looking at pricing it around the same as it would be in a garage or lower?

There's plenty here if you search.

No procedures as such.

Take bank draft (in bank hours so you can call bank and confirm it) or cash.

Fill out new owners N&A on VLC (registration cert) sign it yourself and post it. (don't just give them the cert - both go to post box if it's an issue).

You'll need to price it low if you want to sell as the market is stagnant at the moment but you still should get more than a trade-in.

Look at carzone.ie etc. for current prices for your car / year.
