Looking at selling a Ford Mondeo lx 01 at present. There seems to be a massive variation in selling prices for similar cars. Looked at & www.carzone.ie and similar cars are around 9,000 euro. Book value is over 9,000. In buy and sell magazine they are between 6,000 and 8,500. What price is a fair price to sell this car?

Would depend on a number of factors...what is the mileage? what colour is it? Which engine? Is it saloon, hatchback, estate? etc. And what about overall condition?

Yes. Narrow down competing cars based on mileage, service history.......

You'll need to be 10%+ cheaper than any dealer however to attract a buyer.

Did you use the "whats my car worth" feature on the CBG website?

Result: Average Price for 2001 Ford Mondeo in Ireland: €11,597

Good Luck

this is what the VRT office think its worth on the open market.
Its hard to know exactly how they come up with that number, but i would imagine its above trade-in and below dealer price.

Dont know who the revenue get there stats from but they're way off the mark.

Why do you say way over the mark? Book value has been stated as about 9K and on sale privatly for up to 8.5K. Would seem to be a reasonable compromise value for a car that no-one has even seen let alone driven.
