sell your house yourself

Hi im thinking of selling my house without using a estate agent.I would save myself over 6k.Anybody sold a house themselves and has anybody got any tips or experience in this,thanks

I think it really depends on the house and location. If its a really good house in a desirable area it will be easier to sell. I put my house up for sale with Sellityourself.ie in 2007 and i have had one person view it. Its a nice 3 bed bungalow on a great site and I have reduced it by €120,000 for over a year and still no viewers. People do sell this way but if your in a hurry it may not be the best option. You could also put it in your local newspaper and put up posters in your local supermarkets, buy & sell etc. Good Luck

You save 6k depending on afew things. If you were to use an EA then you can negotiate the commission fee generally to about 1% +vat. Then consider the price that the EA might get and the coverage they provide as against what you fel you are capable of getting for your house. You only save if you can equal or beat what an EA can achieve.
