Sell house in Ire. living in UK - CTG and rental income tax

I own a house in Galway which I have had for the last fifteen years. For the last six years I have been living in the U.K. during which time I have rented my house in Ireland, mostly to social welfare tenants’.

I now want to sell up and use the money to get on the property ladder here in the U.K. (as I have rented here all this time).

I have not paid any tax on the income.

When I sell, how will the IR go about collecting tax on income and CGT on the sale of the property? What is the mechanism in place that will trigger this?

It says on the IR website that the tenant is the responsible person for collecting the tax due on the rental income. Where do I stand as this has not been done?

Thanks for any advice anyone can offer on this.
