Sell home before buying another?

I live in a house in Dublin city. I'm considering moving to a larger house. I'm not in negative equity.

Do I need to sell my house before putting offers on another? I haven't found a house that I like in the area but when one becomes available I'd like to be in a position to buy.
 
How are you going to fund the purchase?

Bridging? No bank doing it currently, as far as I know.

Large loan from friend/family member?

Or from the sale proceeds of your own house?

From the sale proceeds of my own house. I have enough savings for a 10% deposit but would need to sell my own before completing the purchase of the new house.
 
So - you need to sell your own house before buying another

You can put an offer on a house but you really should not sign contracts unless your own house is not just sale agreed but actually sold. Which leaves you homeless.
