Hey all

im a self employed tradesman and have been for the last 12 years. My credit rating is good and currently im single.Although the amount of work has not been great i have manged to hold my own over the past couple of years.

im looking for a mortgage for about 300k and i have the deposit for twice the required amount but I have been trying to get a mortgage and to be honest the response i have been getting from the Banks is quiet negative.

i pay all my taxes on time so there are no problems on that end, basically the banks don't want to know me because im self employed but i have only been to three AIB BOI, EBS so far

Just wondering is there any self employed people who have got mortgage lately and if so where did you go and if you have any tips i would appreciate that also

Thanks

Hi,
I am also self employed and returning to Ireland to work soon, I have been doing some research and the two banks I will be talking to about mortgages are Ulster Bank and Perm TSB.
Uslter Banks requests seem reasonable with regards to criteria.. Might be worth checking them out!

We've been approved with PTSB. My partner is PAYE and I'm self employed plus a low earner. Ulster bank were also confident wed be approved but PTSB came back to us before they got around to it. Have found PTSB great to deal with, but Ulster bank were an absolute disaster. I think it was that branch though, whatever you to don't use UB Stillorgan!!
