I am trying to get my head around all the contractors I will need for a self build butI still have a few questions - can someone help me figure out who does what during a 2 storey self build ??

Site Clearance = Siteworks contractor (aka guy with digger)
Mark the site = Engineer
Put down hardcore layer = Roadstone deliver & digger spreads
Put down drainpipes/ESB/Phone = ???
Construct the Raft = Foundation contractor supervised by Engineer
Pour the concrete = Roadstone (or similar) pours - who spreads/levels it ??
Groundfloor Level = Bricklayer
Put down Hardcore and Binding = ???
Floor Insulation = Myself ???
Subfloor Screed : Subfloor company ???
Walls = Bricklayer
Cills/Lintels = Bricklayer ???
Floor/Ceiling = Hollowcore company or Carpenter
Roof = Roofer/Carpenter
Tiles/Slates = Roofer
Chasing = ???
Doors and Windows = Windows company
External Plastering = Plasterer
First Fixes = Plumber/Electrician
Internal Carpentry = Carpenter
Interior Plastering = Plasterer
Second Fixes etc...

Hi Birroc, I would suggest you go to self build forum in Boards. I am in a similiar position to you and have found the information there to be extensive.

The guy with the digger can look after the ESB ducting , phone drains etc for you.
You can get a gang that specialise in concrete to level / spread the concrete floor

Th foundation crew will need to do the stone , whacking & filling of the base.
Cills & lintels depend on wheither the blocklayer can lift them, if you have large cills they may have to be cast , & the same with the lintels. Chasing ; there are specialised gangs doing it , the electrician usually knows one or two they meet onsite on a regular basis.

Thanks All.

Wow, the groundworks contractor does a lot of work. I'd better get a good price for that.
