Self Administered Pension Schemes

I am thinking of moving into a self administered pension scheme as I am sick of the total lack of transparency from the large pension firms, at least this way I have some control over the direction my pension is going and how much it is costing me each year.

Has anyone got exprience of these and where the negitives might be?
