secure account until 18

I would like to put a lump sum in my godchilds name until she turns 18. I need an account that no one can access only the child when she comes of age. BOI dont do such a thing as its not a massive sum. Can anyone advice me on a fund or bank account. Thanks in advance

In general, the advice is to open an account in your own name to maximise returns and you can always name the child in your will etc

if it's a small amount for the long term, you should look at buying shares instead. You don't need a diverse portfolio. Just one or two shares as the child can handle the risk of things going wrong.
