Im a new member......Quick question. I own a section 23 property. Since last year i rent 2 bedrooms out and live in the third bedroom myself. I have always been an owner occupier and i claim the rural renewal tax relief on my wages every week (i think its worth about €30.00 a week as a tax credit). Am i allowed claim both this and the rent a room scheme??? Should i fill out a form 12???

Yes you can. Provided you meet all the terms of the rent a room relief scheme.

The Section 23 will not impeach upon your right to claim the rent a room relief.

Cheers for that. What are the main terms of the rent a room scheme? Is the max rent that can be received somewhere in the region of 7K. Should i show all this on a form 12.

All relevant info on the rent-a-room scheme is on the Revenue website (and numerous other places). Yes, you show the return on Form 12 (if you are a PAYE worker)

Cheers, i checked out that link and it answered my queries. Thanks again.
