Is there a government charge if I opt to have a secondary card for myself on my wife's credit card account?

No, the duty is on the account, not the card.

It's also different for business credit cards (with BoI at least) - treated as two accounts so twice the duty.

Thanks. My own card is with Danske Bank. They have pulled the plug so I need a card of my own. Incidentally I had a €10k credit limit with Danske Bank. Always cleared the balance every month. My income circumstances have changed. We approached the Ulster bank where my wife has her credit card with a much lower limit and asked for an increase in her limit but it was refused based on our lower incomes, despite having substantial savings with the Ulster Bank. Are credit card limits always based on income or will the credit card take other factors in to account such as savings, home owner, no loans etc?
