Hi All! I presently have a house on the market and dont seem to be getting anywhere with my present auctioneer. I am thinking of getting a second auctioneer on the scene. My Question is that if I have two auctioneers selling the house, in the event that one of them sells the property what fees should I have to pay the auctioneer that dosent sell the house ?

hi my neighbour recently had the same problem he went with the first Ea at .75%and it wasnt selling so he brought in another EA and they agreed on half a persent each......the second Ea got the sale but he paid them both a percentage,i recently sold our house also for a 1% fee so he got a good deal in the end....

So both auctioneers are due commission in the event of a sale. Is this correct ?

hi cw2p,

This isn't necessarily correct. If you go for a joint agency where two auctioneers have the sale of the house - then yes you have to pay them each the agreed percentage if it is 1%, 2% divide between two of them and add on your vat and advertising. If you have two auctioneers and you agree with them whoever sells first gets the fee then the one who sold gets the fee but the other auctioneer has to be paid for advertising and so on.

I was thinking of going for two completely separate auctioneering firms. I presume the firm that sell the house gets the full comission and the Ea. that dosent sell the property just gets advertising fees. How much sould the fees be ?

hi cw2p,

It depends on what part of country you are in - I agreed 1% with my EA. Advertising is up to you and what budget you agree with your EA.
