Hi, I have just cleaned the patio, It is indian sandstone and I am going to seal it tomorrow, Likewise I have cleaned the drive which is brickwork and will be sealing that also, I have an idea on how to go about it and which products to use, I am going to go with thompsons for both back and front, I would like any opinions on which seal to use regarding gloss or the more natural seal, Any tips would be appreciated also, Killing time for the weekend so might as well get it right, Regards Cumnor.

Perhaps you would get some advice from www.pavingexpert.com

Do you mind me asking you how you cleaned both? Thinking of cleaning cobblelock shortly with pressure washer. Have done it in the past and it was a slow painful job with not great results.

I cleaned our patio and path with domestos and a hard brush, mixed it 2 water to 1 domestos, it is much quicker than the power washer and much cheaper than patio cleaner, I then sealed it with Thompson, it says one coat, I will see how long it lasts. If the surface is porous it will not go far.

After using numerous patio/ Drive cleaners, I used a product called moss- go, There is a regular one and one for algae and stains, The Latter suited me, I used 1 part moss-go to 5 parts water in a watering can and applied, Thoroughly sweep the area first though, Let it soak in for 48 hours and wash down, You need to do this only when we are expecting 48 hours without rain, It costs around 30.00 euro but you get what you pay for, You can get it in woodies, Patio looks great now so off to buy a sealer at last.

Please do let us know if your sealant works. Have used a sealant on indian sandstone in the past and only held for about 2 months. After that we were back to square one. Good luck with it anyway.
