hi
i have recently bought a metal garden shed that i need to fix on my concrete base. i have found out that you can use "hilti hamma screws" with a masonry 15/64 drill bit. i have to buy these seperately. does anyone know where i could get these, are they stanadard and available from the likes of 4homes? or are they specialist.
thanks for reading

Re: concrete screws

Did it not come with fixings? I know that the Yardmaster ones available in Argos and other outlets (and discussed here in other threads) do.

Re: concrete screws

it came with everything except for the screws to fix to the base

Re: concrete screws

I would be inclined to check with the supplier as it seems strange that they did not supply them. Hubby found the electric screwdriver to come into its own when fitting the screws on our yardmaster.

Re: concrete screws

yeah i have gotten especially for the job . are ye sure that the screws and drill bit to fit to concrete base came with the shed?? its only the base ones im talking about

Re: concrete screws

all other screws are there. when you buy these on line at any site they ask do you wnat the concrete base fittings as an extra. i suspect ye are talking about the other screws

Re: concrete screws

Its a long, long time ago since we bought ours but as far as I can recall they came with it.

Re: concrete screws

Same here. Are you talking about a Yardmaster shed mickman?

Re: concrete screws

this is the one , bought from argos clubman

Re: concrete screws

Ah - I see. Anchoring kits seem to be optional. That's a pain... :(
Optional accessories: more information can be found on the PDF brochure download on the left hand side of this page.
Wooden floor kit - fully pressure impregnated half lapped boards and bearers. Nails for assembly, screws & washers to fix shed base rail to top surface of the floor included
Floor Support Kit - comprises steel floor supports to the interior of the shed to provide support for customer's choice of flooring material. Shed must be secured to a suitable concrete or flagstone base prior to use. A floor cutting chart is included.
Hilti screw kit - Fits through pre-drilled holes in the base rail. Fix by simply hammering on the head of the drive screw. Kit supplied with masonry drill bit.
You could always bring it back to Argos and get a Yardmaster instead!? :)

Re: concrete screws

but the anchoring kit just seems to bit a few screws, the name that i gave in the first question. is anybody familiar with these kind of screws?

Re: concrete screws

I would have thought that for a shed you'd want to use heavy duty anchor bolts or some heavy duty fitting to prevent the shed blowing away in strong winds. Could be done by a competent DIYer but if you're not confident you should pay 50 to 80 or whatever to get someone in who is (confident)... who will also have the necessary drills etc...

Sorry, I don't know what Hilti 'Hamma' screws are.... hopefully they are heavy duty but if they only require an approx 6mm drill bit they don't sound like super heavy duty anyway... if there's a lot of them they are probably ok... I'd consider 10mm to 12mm, even 16mm heavy duty anchor bolts.

Looks like Hilti don't know either. They do hammer in screw fixings, but nothing called 'Hamma'. Any builders providers will sell these, as do the usual DIY sheds.

I think Joe's suggestion of [broken link removed] is a good one.

Yes, all builders providers and the majority of DIY stores will sell these. They are easy to install, just drill the appropriate diameter holw, push the bolt in and tighten the nut.
