Screen door or curtain to keep bugs out.

On nice summer evenings (stop laughing )We love to sit with the patio doors open to let a nice breeze in. However our living room then becomes Bug Central as the little buggers are attracted by all the lights on. Any one know of any screen options to keep them out, other than installing actual blinds. We live in an apt and we will be moving soon. So ideally we don't want anything that involves drilling into the wall, that the landlord could ding us on when it is time to get our deposit back. We also would like something that is easy to detach and take with us and reinstall when we move. In the States, all patio doors come with an additional sliding screen door that is made of a very fine wire mesh. Light and air gets in. Bugs don't. It is mounted on a very light plywood frame, so it can be clicked in and out of the door frame very easily. Anyone know where I'd be able to get something like that in Dublin? Thanks.

I promise not to laugh about the summer evenings and do undertand what you mean about bugs at night. Its prety unlikely that you'll get the type of ready fit screens here as I doubt there is a market. Lidl and Aldi regularly do screens with velcro attachment which you cut to size. Check it out with them when they are on sale this year. I think that perhaps Woddies also do them but I'm not sure.

I have been looking forward to sitting out in the garden all winter. Eclipse night and we were out. Garden furniture looking good. Storm candles lit. Then Aaaargggh! the moths, monsters, out of nowhere. Silent scream.

SoylentGreen, get yourself some citronella candles. Moths hate the scent, and it is bound to deter them. It won't eliminate them completely, but at least you won't have them dive bombing your head and using your face for target practice. Pennys have them on sale, but I normally buy good quality ones from proper hardware or garden shops. They last longer, and have stronger bug repelling powers than the cheapo ones.

Warning - we got some mesh and made it up into window screens. Alas! it was fine enough for most insects but not midges. It has to be really fine to stop them...
