Scratched windscreen, need suggestions for repair

I foolishly scratched the car windscreen with the green side of a Scotchbrite pad. There are swirl marks that look really bad. Any suggestions on whether it's possible to repair. Replacement windscreen is the last option.

if the windscreen is broken your insurance will generally cover it without it effecting your bonus not sure if the fact its very scratched would be covered
