Apologies if Im using the wrong site but I dont know where else to go.Maybe someone could direct me!
I am using the school transport scheme under the concessionary category for the last 4 years I had 2 children going to a primary school 1 is now finished & attending secondary school the youngest still has 4 years of primary school to do.I pay Bus Eireann the required fee every year & the cost has risen a lot since my children first started travelling on the school bus.My question is I know of 2 families that walked up to the bus last October & put their children on the bus with no tickets or permission to do so.As of yet they have not paid the transport fee & with just 2 weeks left in school I doubt they are going to do so.They are not covered by insurance as they shouldnt be on the bus.The bus driver was very wrong to allow these children to travel without tickets. My child has been asked on more than one occasion to show the ticket.I dont know how the others are geting away with this.
This has been brought to the attention of both the bus inspector & bus Eireann.Neither have done anything. So I would like to know who would be in a higher position that this could be reported to.I am quite angry about the whole thing as I am paying my way & as everyone knows we are in hard financial times. These families have got away with a cost of at least 900 euro.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
I'm curious as to how you can be so certain that they have NOT paid the fee?
Anyway, to progress the complaint, you could try the Dept Education - write to the Secretary General or the Minister and see what happens. If that doesn't work, try the Ombusdman.
