Hi all
I applied for jobseekers two years ago after being made redundant & selling house in the uk.
My husband is fully employed on 35 k.
I was turned down jobseekers allowance because we had 80k on deposit after sale of house.
I had worked & paid prsi for 16 years prior to this and had never made a claim.
As you can imagine i was angry at being turned down.

I have had a baby since so wasn't seeking employment.
But Now I have started to look for work again.
& We're in the process of buying a house .
Once the house sale goes through we'll have little savings -less than 3k
Will I now get jobseekers allowance seeing as the only reason that prevented me getting it before no longer applies.
Will the value of house be used a asset during means testing?

Will the revenue look at my recent transactions and say i shouldn't have bought the house with the last of my savings so now i'm not entitled ?

Its your husbands wages that will prevent you getting JA, not savings. You won#t pass a means test if he is on 35k.

If you had worked and paid PRSI for 16 years, did you not qualify for JB which is not means tested?
