Save or invest?

Just out of college and looking to start planning for the long term future in terms of a savings account or investing. I want to start saving e400 a month that I'd like to put aside and not touch for the next 10 years. Should I invest and if so, with whom? Or should I put it into a long term savings account and if so, which? My bank are eager to sell me stocks and shares, but it's a minefield and I would like some independent advice.

Have you read the key posts and the many existing threads on similar lines here and the consumer guides to savings & investments on www.itsyourmoney.ie ? If necessary get independent advice. Don't expect this from tied agents at your bank.
