Hi guys,
Satellite dish up after enormous struggle against gravity and artic conditions, all cables in place and plugged into receiver box. receiver box plugged into tv. Receiver box on. tv on and set to AV. Gone outside and connected Satellite finder up beside the LMB, one side to the LMB and the other to the receiver, as per instructions. No lights showing on Finder. It says that all the lights will light up if its put in front of the dish, but this is not the case. Power to light it I presume comes form the receiver box, located some 24 metres away in the living room. Would the distance be a problem? why is the finder not lighting? Does the dish have to be alligned fairly accurately before it will give a reading?
I'm out first thing tomorrow, determined to make it work!
Thanks again. :)

- Double check all connections if they're twist ons.
- receiver should be set to receive a specific channel (enter the details ...get them off lyngsat.com just to make sure you've got uptodate settings)
- if there are no lights AT ALL showing on the finder, I would say its the connection somewhere as its not getting power...that or else the satfinder is dead.
The dish has to be aligned VERY accurately before it will give a reading. I assume your looking for the sky/bbc satellite (Astra2/Eurobird...28.2E)?

Is your dish pointing in a similar direction and at a similar angle to other dishes in the area?

If so you can just follow the signal strength that is shown on your TV screen (with 24 metres of cable this will take two people!

Thanks guys, there are no lights at all showing, so I will check all connections tomorrow... Yes I'm looking for astra 2. Yes my dish is pointing in much the same direction as the neighbours! I'll keep you all posted....

When I put mine up the thing that helped me was the tone signal. When the tone was sharp I knew I had it. Which i did. Bring your portable tv beside where you are pointing the dish is another tip.

Have you turned down the adjuster ?

That should show lights even pointing at the ground on the lowest setting.

Satellite finders are a pain in the rear. I feel your pain as I spent a long time using one to install mine and some friends. Bought a proper meter and never looked back.
