Sardinia Accommodation

I have checked the previous posts relating to Sardinia but I am wondering would all accommodation have to be pre-booked or could I rent a car and easily find reasonably priced accommodation as required?

If anyone has been there in July - Are hotels generally fully booked?

If anyone has any recommendations for hotels it would be a welcome respite from trawling through Trip Advisor!

We stayed at the Villagio dei Pini on the north coast of Sardinia a few years ago. We prebooked this through [broken link removed]
This is a company we have used on several occasions and indeed have posted about here many times.

In Alghero try http://www.angedras.it/ Plenty of parking on the street outside. About 20 minutes walking from the centre.
