Sanding and varnishing

Anyone know someone who could do this for me, I'm in the Co. Cork area.. Can't seem to see contacts anywhere. I think it could be a messy job to do it myself. Also I wonder would anyone have an idea of price (I want 3 rooms upstairs done) its a standard 3 bed ?

generally could get any painter to do this. It would need a few coats of varnish after the sanding. Its something that alot of people generally do themselves although I will warn you it can take ages especially when you haven't done it before!!! You could just hire a sander from one of those tool hire places.
 

Is it doors, floors, architrave, skirting boards, paneling, dado rails, picture rails or curtain rails you want sanded and varnished?

This information does come in handy when getting posters to respond!
 
Recently did a few rooms in my house. You can hire a sander for about 50 euros for a weekend, they'll supply sand paper as well. I bought a small makita sander as well for the corners, around 80 euro. Use the hired sander first, then do the corners and edges with the smaller one. Then use 120/240 grit sand paper and give a quick once over. Let the dust settle and hoover. Wipe down with white spirits, let it dry and hoover again. Then 3 coats of Ronseal Diamond Coat fllowed by a light sand with 240 grit sand paper, hoover, wash with spirits and one final coat of varnish.

It's a lot of work but the floors will look amazing.

I have bought 2 houses in my life time.
The first time I sanded and varnished the 3 bedrooms myself.
Not a job I want to ever repeat, more trouble than it is worth.
Hiring all the gear, buying the materials, cleaning, dusting, taping, hammering etc.
(BTW - not afraid of having to use elbow grease but never again).

In my second house I hired a guy in.
He did the job 10 times better than I would ever have done.
I can't remember the exact cost but remember saying if I ever have to do this again, I'll get him.
I don't have the guys name to hand but I'll find it over the weekend and get back to you.
He is Cork based.

Hey there I know this is 12 years old but I'm looking for a sander in cork if those contact details ever turned up!
