Hello,

I have a solid hardwood kitchen island countertop that was just installed.

I am not happy with the finish - it is still has quite a rough texture (at least when compared to the shop model).

I looked up DIY Doctor on web. Basically I have to appy several more thin coats of oil, while sanding btw coats with 120 - 180 grit sandpaper.

Question is: when sanding - do you sand with the grain or in small circles?
Not sure it it even matters, but better safe........

Thanks,

Certina.

Sand with the grain using very light sandpaper wrapped around a cork sanding block. Make sure you dust it off afterwards, and then apply several coats of Danish Oil. This will need doing every year or so, depending on how much wiping the surface gets.
