Sandbags, where to source- Galway city

There was a guy on Pat Kenny yesterday who said there was no risk unless there was a storm...however this would happen again in October and that might be more of a risk....

The areas that may be at risk are:

Residents and homeowners in these areas are strongly advised to take all necessary precautions against possible flooding. Practical examples of measures that can be taken include: moving valuables and other items to safety, storing any electrical items above flood level, and moving vehicles to higher ground. Further advice and information can be sought from www.flooding.ie.
The City Council is making specific provisions, including the allocation of sandbags, for priority areas in most immediate danger; Quay Street, Flood Street, and Fishmarket. The Council will monitor the situation on an ongoing basis and will arrange for the distribution of sandbags to other areas if necessary. Householders should also consider their own provision in this regard.
The City Council has met with the emergency services in the City and has put in place an emergency plan to deal with the situation. Roads will be closed in association with An Garda Síochána as the need arises and motorists are urged to take special heed of all traffic restrictions should they be necessary. It is also advisable to avoid the coast roads where possible.

Not sure about Galway, but I know some Councils have "[broken link removed]" available free to Council tenants and the elderly, and at reduced cost to others.
