Samsung LCD will not turn on

Hi,
I purchased a 40'' Samsung LCD TV from my local DID Electrical in April 2007, and it never gave any trouble until this week. All of a sudden it started taking 2-3 minutes to turn on while every few seconds there was a ticking noise from the tv.

After 2 days of this, the tv will no longer turn on. From a little research online, I learned that this is most likely caused by a known issue with Samsung tvs, leaky capacitors. See this thread (my TV has a slightly different model number) http://www.avforums.com/forums/lcd-...40r73bd-making-clicking-noise-wont-power.html

It is not supposed to be too difficult to fix, but I would like to get peoples opinions on where I stand with getting it repaired for free?
Since it is a known issue, would the tv be deemed to have a inherent fault, can I expect a free repair or am I deluded and will I even be lucky to get DID or Samsung to repair it at a cost since it is over 2 years since the purchase?

This link here shows how the problem can be fixed http://www.earthinfo.org/samsung-tv-makes-a-strange-clicking-sound/ but I want to see what my opinions are before I start opening up a tv that cost me over 1200 euro

Thanks
