I don't know the details, but I'm near certain that there's an EU law in this regard.
It's along the lines that the agent has created a market for you and you will continue to benefit from his/her work and therefore compensation for building the customer base would be due.
A query to your solicitor is probably best.
Edit - the suggestion is 2 years commission
