Hi,

I have deposit accounts in Commerzbank ( Germany) and Societe Generale ( France)

I would like to know how secure my deposits in these banks are.

Can anybody advise me ?

Thanks

Do you want a scale of 1 to 10, a long winded analysis or how would you like us to look it up for you?

See it really depends what way you look at it - both banks are very safe right now, but if there was cantagion both banks are leveraged significantly. In fact Soc Gen is rumoured to be the bank who couldnt close their book Tuesday night, leading to the Central Banks interventions yesterday. (see Zero Hedge and Forbes)

Thanks Mom,

I don't want you to go to too much trouble for me, but if there are sites that would give me an evaluation of these banks please pass their names to me.

If you have a rating (1-10) for these two banks, comparing them to the other big German and French banks, I would appreciate it

Look up Bloomberg's Tangible Common Equity Ratio.

Commerzbank is #7 and Soc Gen # 12.

I.E neither are in a good position
