Where can one buy safety mats for a children's play i.e. under swings and climbing frames area and how much would they cost.

If youre putting them outside, try the garden mulch (small pieces of bark) as an alternative soft landing surface. available at most DIY stores for 2 or 3e a bag. works a treat. ;)

Had thought of that but have been informed that this mulch can get very messy when it gets wet and also needs to be replaced regularly. Figured the mats would be a more permament job and as it is for a community playschool funds are not too plentiful. Have tryed to google the safety mats but with no luck. Any info would be appreciated

There must be a supply of them somewhere! I watched an interesting Discovery channel program on the recycling of car tyres to safety mats....now there's an idea?

Not sure if safety mats are the correct name for them, but the original question was, anybody know where can you get them and how much they cost?

I got a flyer in the letterbox during the week with these in it (these were jigsaw-shaped mats) - I'll see if I can find it for you

Hi ailli,
found it - it's for Lakeland and they're called Creche Mats.
The details for Lakeland are:

Town and County Shops
Longford 043 41614
Newgrange Business Part, Drogheda 041 9838614

Lakeland Branches
Castlebellingham 042 9372221
Trim 046 9431661
Carrickmacross 042 9663555
Lough Egish 042 9747209
Granard 043 86336

Even if none of these are close to you, you might get further in your investigations using 'creche mats'. Hope that helps!

I think that bark mulch will tend to be used as a litter tray by cats and dogs! There is a company in Roscrea that do these mats also- don't know the name but I'm sure Google could give you more info.
