Safe to reverse pipe outputs from shower pump to correct inputs to mixer?

Hello All,

Got new shower mixer installed, all tiled around and is a concealed unit. Of course the installers only tested afterwards and discovered that the inputs to the mixer were reversed - so hot == cold etc, so mixer was not working properly at all. Their solution was to alter the pump in the hot press that feeds the shower (is a pumped shower) so that the outputs were switched over.

Are there any implications of this - or is it safe enough. One friend pointed out that if that was the feed for cold water upstairs we could get nice hot water coming out of the loo - thankfully that is not the case and the pump only feeds the shower.

I was more wondering about hot water getting back into the cold feed and contaiminating it - not a 100% on that though - just something I read about waste water from the shower getting back into the supply being bad.
