Has anyone travelled with Ryanair to Brest and then used public transport from there to other parts of France? Interested to hear how this worked out using trains or buses only.

Few options

The Brest Airport is located 10 km northeast of Brest, in a town called Guipavas. The airport is about a 15-20 minute drive from the city center, just off the N12/E50 road. It is very well sign posted from all directions.
There's an airport shuttle bus that stops at both the tourist office and the train station. It runs every two hours or so, and the trip takes about 25 minutes. It costs 4.60€ one way or 8.40€ roundtrip. For kids, it is 2.30€ one way or 4.20€ roundtrip (2008 prices). The shuttle stops in front of the old airport terminal, about a five minute walk from the new terminal, near the P3 parking lot.

And then you can get the train -
